Brewing news USA: Pennichuck Brewing Co puts its first ale on tap

Pennichuck Brewing Co. of Milford, New Hampshire, will put its first product on the market a week from today, when it delivers kegs of “Engine No. 5" red ale to restaurants in Southern New Hampshire, The Boston Globe posted June 01.

On that day, the brewery also has scheduled promotional events at Elisha's Restaurant on Nashua Street in Milford, and Amigo's Mexican Cantina and the Pasta Loft Restaurant & Pub, both on the Milford Oval.

Pennichuck Brewing, which operates out of the 10,000-square-foot space that used to be the Permattach Diamond & Tool Manufacturing plant, is run by Phil Jewett of Amherst, New Hampshire, and Michael Labbe of Shirley, Massachusetts .

The brewery has nine fomenters, which are the tanks in which beer is processed. Each fomenter can hold about 930 gallons, or about 9,900 12-ounce glasses of beer. Jewett said the brewery will probably begin work soon on a beer to be called “Under the Railyard Lager."

In their first year, the partners hope to sell about 12 types of beers
